“INSIDE THE MATTRESS” video performance with Tender Forever for The FIAF & Whitney

FIAFphoto(4)

I got to collaborate with my good pal Melanie Valera (aka Tender Forever) on a music/video performance project for the 2009 Crossing the Line Festival in NYC. The Festival is organized by the French Institute Alliances Frances, and the exhibit we were apart of was curated by The Whitney Museum. The exhibit was centered around the work of, French film pioneer, Alice Guy Blanche. Melanie was given a short silent film of Blanche’s to score and the performance used the film as a jumping off point. The show consisted of live green screening, multi-screen projections, animations by Duncan Frazier and Bonnie Brenda Scott, and an audience-participation-cell-phone-motion-tracking segment programmed by Nick Lally.

I have some videos in a show that just opened at the FUSE Gallery in NYC with a whole bunch of Philly friends. You can visit it for the rest of the month and click HERE for images if you prefer to look at art on your computer. The show was curated by Damian Weinkrantz and acts as an installation of a Philadelphia apartment in NYC. The art was made by all the money we save by not paying NY rents.

tour2.0

We did a second tour of “ACTION NEWS”, a program of Philadelphia-based experimental films and music videos, which Dave Dunn and I curated as a project of the Small Change Screening Series. This time out we went through the South US. Our friends Paolo Giampietro and Chris Ward (who has two videos in the program) came with us. We drove through rain, shine, the first snow storm in Alabama in like 500 years, and found a puppy aka “Tour Dog” somewhere near Roanoke Virginia. Special thanks to everyone who gave us shows especially: Jerstin Crosby, Roger Beebe and everyone at FLEX (The Florida Experimental Film Festival), and Scott “Hot Scott” Ross and everyone at New College in Sarasota. We had a BLAST! Thanks so much to everyone who came to our shows!
