The unprecedented series centers around Larry Krasner, the civil rights lawyer, who became the most controversial District Attorney in America by trying to use the office to end mass incarceration. With incredible real-time behind-the-scenes access the series captures an historic moment of change in the American the criminal justice system that is rippling through the rest of the country. Over the course of the series, PHILLY D.A. explores the most pressing social issues of our time—police brutality, the opioid crisis, gun violence, and mass incarceration—through the lens of an idealistic team of outsiders attempting an overhaul from within the system. The series had its world premier at the Sundance Film Festival and European premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, where it was the first docuseries ever shown by the festival.
